HYBRIDISATION SINCE THE MID 1990’s

FROM EFFICIENCY TO PERFORMANCE

HYBRIDISATION SUCCESS

Zytek have been designing and developing hybrid vehicle systems since being tasked with the creation of a series hybrid powertrain for a show vehicle in the mid 1990s.

This vehicle, whilst originally being requested to support solely low speed demonstration activities, was subsequently used in a much wider range of press events with no further engineering, testament to the quality of engineering that Zytek provide.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, and as customers began to explore electrification, most demanded that the electrical system was supported by a combustion engine as battery technology would not yet provide adequate range for day to day use.

These early hybridisation opportunities provided Zytek with the perfect opportunity to demonstrate innovation through product development and systems integration, wrapped in a safety environment to ensure that the systems functioned seamlessly when in the hands of paying customers.

This early start in the new generation of vehicle platforms has helped position Zytek as one of the most recognised partners when requesting high performance hybrid systems in any field of application.

HYBRID VEHICLE CASE STUDIES

JAGUAR LAND ROVER XJ_e & RANGE ROVER E

Engaged by JLR to investigate the feasibility of providing custom power electronics in order to boost the performance of a nominated electric machine.

GM PARALLEL HYBRID TRUCK

Appointed by GM to help develop a new hybridised truck concept, offering fuel savings for day-to-day use, plus the ability to act as a portable generator with 3 phase outputs in the cabin and the truck bed for use in construction applications.
